It's All About Love! Sponsorships

urban university calls on local business leaders and community members to our annual marquee event to celebrate single mothers and community!

Event Details:
Sunday, May 3rd
1-3:30pm
The Workshop, 3235 Grand Ave., Oakland

It’s All About Love...
We invite you to be a part of our annual event where we honor the mothers and community members in our orbit. Your logo and contribution helps remind our program participants that others are rooting for them and the community at large. Our event will celebrate graduates from our program, mothers sharing personal stories as the feature of the event, and the 2026 S/Heros Award, shining a light on local leaders.

Opening Pathways to Power and Possibility
This year, as we mark the 28th anniversary of urban university and 30 years of national welfare reform, we are dismantling the outdated narratives that once blamed single mothers for their circumstances. Our almost three decades of experience tells the true story: Single mothers are not the problem, they are our North Star and the ultimate pillars of love, determination, and resilience. The challenge today isn't a lack of will—it is the mobility gap. As rising costs and shrinking safety nets create new pressures, the distance between daily survival and true stability has never been wider.

Why Your Sponsorship Matters
With your support, urban university works to close this gap by investing in the inherent leadership of single mothers that want to move from surviving to upward mobility.  Your sponsorship will provide:

Housing Stability for 16 individuals through transitional housing with navigation to permanent housing;

Employment Opportunities for 10 single mothers through paid on-the-job training and access to career pathways;

Pathways to Wellness for 25 single mothers through yoga, parenting and professional development workshops;

Engagement of up to 200 neighborhood residents in our mission through workshops and community events.

Any contribution you make, in kind or via donation to our auction, is a contribution to positive change in our hometown. urban university is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization. EIN: 94-3298411.  All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
