The theme of this year's event is: It’s all about love!

In 2026, Love leads the way. As the nation marks the 30th anniversary of welfare reform, urban university is intentionally offering a counter narrative. Single mothers are not the problem. They are our North Star - pillars of love, resilience, leadership, and care who hold families and neighborhoods together every day. Led by Tracey Williams, urban university continues to work relentlessly to improve the socioeconomic status of unhoused single mothers by providing housing, trauma-informed case management, and on-the-job training in their social enterprise urban furniture and boutique on Grand Avenue in Oakland.

Why Your Support Matters
With your support, urban university works to close this gap by investing in the inherent leadership of single mothers that want to move from surviving to upward mobility by providing:

Housing Stability for 16 individuals through transitional housing with navigation to permanent housing;

Employment Opportunities for 10 single mothers through paid on-the-job training and access to career pathways;

Pathways to Wellness for 25 single mothers through yoga, parenting and professional development workshops; 

Engagement of up to 200 neighborhood residents in our mission through workshops and community events.

Our ticket prices range from $0 - $100. Any ticket price you select is a show of support, whether it's your presence at our event or your presence plus helping to fund our programs. Any contribution you make, in kind or via donation to our auction, is a contribution to positive change in our hometown. urban university is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.
